For many years I pondered the idea of writing about my childhood in Communist Cuba. In April of 2009, my first book, Leaving Glorytown; One Boy's Struggle Under Castro, was published World English by FSG, Macmillan. World Audio by Random House, 2010, and translated to Portuguese, published by Editora Nossa Cultura, 2012.
In 2011, I delighted in writing a children's book under the title, Rooftop Clubhouse; A Children's Book of Character Building Virtues. This proved to be one of the most fulfilling experiences of my writing career. This work will soon be published in eBook/Kindle.

I am currently working on a follow-up book to Leaving Glorytown, under the working title of, The Salmon Run. This is a story of coming of age in America and knowing the freedom of forgiveness in the Lord. After thirty years of hatred, I forgave the one person who I blamed for having violated my childhood.
May you enjoy my work.
Sincerely,
E. Calcines
